Russia could temporarily ban some agricultural imports from Egypt
(Reuters) – Russia’s food safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said on Tuesday it could impose a temporary ban on imports of “products of high phytosanitary risk” from Egypt.
It did not disclose the list of the products which could be banned but said that its concern was caused by “systematic breach of international and phytosanitary requirements” by Cairo ahead of the start of massive citrus fruit supplies to Russia.
International Cooperation Minister opens Euromoney Egypt Conference Monday
Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr will open The Euromoney Egypt Conference 2016, due to be held on Sept. 19 and 20, Youm7 reported a statement from the ministry Tuesday.
The conference will be attended by more than 1,000 economists, businesspersons, and financiers and will focus on the ways of establishing new investing companies in Egypt, the statement added.
Egypt’s exports to Turkey go up by 7.6% in 1st quarter of 2016: Min.
Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Qabil announced Tuesday that the Egyptian exports to Turkey went up to $681.5 million during the first half of Fiscal Year 2016/2017, comparing with $633.1 million over the same period of 2015, an increase of 7.6 percent, Youm7 reported Tuesday.
Egypt’s exports to non-Arab Asian countries rise to $ 489.7 mln: CBE
Per latest data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), Egypt’s exports to non-Arab Asian countries rose to $ 489.7 million by the end of the third quarter of fiscal year 2015/2016, compared to the $369 million in the same period of the previous year, Youm7 reported Tuesday.
Egyptian pound steady at Tuesday auction
The Central Bank of Egypt has kept the pound steady against the US dollar at its official foreign currency auction on Tuesday, with the unchanged rate of 8.88 per dollar, data from the bank showed.
