Egyptian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia “in good condition”: mission head

The Egyptian pilgrims currently performing the Hajj in Saudi Arabia “are all in good condition and no complaints have been received since they ascended Mina, head of Egypt’s Hajj mission Sayed Maher was quoted by Youm7 Tuesday.

The mission had not received any reports on loss of any Egyptian pilgrims while ascending on Mount Arafat, he added.

The number of Egyptian pilgrims who have died of natural causes in Saudi Arabia climbed to 28 on Wednesday, Youm7 reported.


Egypt’s powerlifter Amany Ibrahim wins bronze medal in 2016 Paralympics

Egyptian powerlifter Amany Ibrahim has won bronze medal in the 69kg category at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, pushing up Egypt’s total medals to seven.

Ibrahim managed to lift 127 kg; 13 kg less than France’s silver medalist Souaad Ghazouani and Nigerian gold medalist Ndidi Nwsou, who both managed to lift 140 kg.


Hot, humid weather prevails in Egypt on Wed., Cairo sees 34C

Hot and humid weather is expected to prevail in Cairo and Egypt’s Delta on Wednesday, with a maximum of 34 degrees centigrade in Cairo, The Egyptian Meteorological Authority announced.

Very hot and dry weather is predicted in the Upper Egypt’s governorates; Qena and Luxor will see 39C, while Aswan will see 40C, it added.

Meanwhile, weather will be cooler on the northern coast with highs of 32C in Egypt’s Mediterranean city of Alexandria.


Egypt approves continuing Swiss mission’s archeological works in Aswan

Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mustafa Amin has approved a request from the Swiss Institute in Cairo to complete the institute mission’s works in old Aswan, in the period between October 17, 2016 and September 30, 2017.

The mission’s program includes work of excavation and restoration of the Temple of Isis and other archeological sites in the location, Youm7 reported Monday evening.


Cairo-Suez highway to be inaugurated in October

The under-construction Cairo-Suez highway project will be fully ready for operation in October; the road is 70 kilometer in length and connects the Ring Road with the Entrance of Suez, said Maj. Gen. Adel left, Head of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges Tuesday.

4,530 tourists arrive in Sharm al-Sheikh, push hotel occupancy rate to 28%

Some 4,530 tourists of various nationalities arrived at Sharm al-Sheikh Airport Monday aboard 42 international flights, while a total of 2,488 tourists have departed the airport, the head of South Sinai’s task force Essam Khedr told Youm7.

He added that the tourist turnout has pushed hotel occupancy rate to 28 percent in Sharm el Sheikh.
