Egypt’s navy head in France to receives 2nd Mistral helicopter carrier

Head of the Egyptian Naval Forces Osama Rabie has traveled to France on Thursday to receive f the second Mistral-class Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) warship, Youm7 reported.

Rabie, who heads a high-profile military delegation, is scheduled to raise the Egyptian flag on the new warship during a military ceremony in France’s Saint-Nazaire harbor on Friday.

Chief of staff of the French navy Admiral Christophe Prazuck, military officials from the two countries in addition to representatives from Mistral will be present during the ceremony.

The new carrier is named after the late Egyptian president Mohamed Anwar al Sadat.

The carrier is the second in a deal worth EUR 950 million signed last October with France to buy two Mistral helicopter carriers. Egypt received the first in June this year.

Egypt and France have signed about 30 agreements during the French president’s visit to Egypt in April.


Evangelical Church delegation in New York ahead of Sisi’s participation in UNGA meetings

A delegation from Egypt’s Evangelical Church has traveled to New York on Thursday as part of unofficial campaign to support President Abdel Fatah El Sisi during his upcoming visit to New York, Youm7 reported.

“The Evangelical community has contacted many of the high-level US evangelical leaders, to support Egypt in this critical phase of the history of the region,” the church said in a press statement Thursday.

Sisi is scheduled to participate in the 71st round of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled to be held in New York. Sisi will also attend are the Security Council’s summit on Syria, scheduled for Sep. 21 September.


Libya’s presidential council chairman arrives in Cairo

The chief of Libya’s new UN-backed government Fayez al-Sarraj arrived in Cairo on Thursday where he will meet with several Egyptian officials to discuss latest development and security situation in Libya, Youm7 reported.

Meanwhile, high-profile diplomatic source told Youm7 that Aqilah Saleh, President of the Libyan House of Representatives has also arrived in Cairo on Thursday. The reason behind Saleh’s visit remains disclosed, he added.

During the past years, Cairo has hosted several meetings between the Libyan factions to end the crisis and to come to a resolution that assures the stability in Libya.


23 reports on corruption submitted to Sisi

The Egyptian Administrative Control Authority (ACA) and the Central Auditing Organization (CAO) have sent President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi a total of 23 reports on the investigations into corruption allegations in several sectors, particularly in subsidized wheat supply, and baby formula, Youm7 reported on Thursday.


Saudi Arabia deports 33 Egyptian expats for illegal residency

A total of 33 Egyptian expatriates arrived in the Cairo International Airport on Thursday after being deported by Saudi authorities for illegal residency, Youm7 reported an official at the airport.

Egyptian security forces have arrested on seven deportees, who are fugitives from Justice, and investigated all the deportees.


Egypt thwarts illegal migration attempt by 242 people, a day after arresting 440 others

Egypt’s Security forces arrest on a total of 242 unregistered migrants from different nationalities in Mediterranean city of Beheira on Thursday before heading to Italian shores, Youm7 reported a statement from Beheira Security Directorate.

The migrants are 159 Egyptians, 57 Sudanese, 6 Eritreans, 3 Syrians, 3 Palestinians, 2 Somalis, 4 Chadian, 4 Guineans, and 2 from the Comoros, the statement added.

The detention took place a day after Egyptian naval forces thwarted two illegal migration attempts by 440 people in Burullus city of Kafr el Sheikh governorate (Delta), according to a statement by Armed Forces Spokesperson Mohamed Samir on Wednesday.


Parliament organizes a big ceremony to honor Paralympics champions   

Egypt’s House of Representatives will organize a big ceremony to honor Egyptian athletes in the Paralympics game at Rio 2016 as they managed to bring their home 11 bronze, silver and gold medals, Youm7 reported head of Sports and Youth Committee at the Parliament Mohamed Farag Amer on Thursday.


Parliament discusses gov’t’s efforts to resume tourist flights to Egypt

Tourism Committee at the Parliament will hold a meeting with the Ministers of Tourism and Civil Aviation to discuss the latest development between Egypt and Russia over resuming the Russian flights to Egypt, besides EgyptAir’s services to attract more tourists.

The meeting will also tackle the outcomes of visits paid by Russian and European delegations rto check the security measures in the Egyptian airports ahead resuming the suspended flights.

Although the Egyptian tourism sector has suffered crisis since the outbreak of January 2011 uprising, the sector saw a grave setback after the crash of Russian passenger plane, which was downed over Sinai, on October 31, 2015, claiming lives of more than 220 people on board.
