More than 2 tons of hashish seized before entry via Matrouh

Anti-drug police managed to seize more than tons of hashish before entering into the country on board of a fishing boat in the Mediterranean city of Marsa Matrouh, Youm7 reported.

The boat was seized and its crew was arrested.

 

Michael Bolton gives concert Oct. 21 in Cairo

Famous American singer and songwriter Michael Bolton is set to hold a concert in the Chinese Garden in Cairo’s Nasr City on Oct. 21.

Bolton receive many music awards, and he participated in around 430 concerts around the world, the last one was in Dubai on Nov. 24, 2014, according to Youm7.

 

Ministry organizes visits to Luxor, Aswan for 200 families of armed forces martyrs

Tourism Ministry announced organizing cultural trips for 200 families of martyrs among armed forces to visit tourist attractions in Luxor and Aswan, Youm7 reported.

 

Cairo Hussein Mosque closed on Ashura Day

The Cairo Directorate of Religious Endowments decided to shut down historic Hussein Mosque on Tuesday where Shiites celebrate the festival of Ashura, Youm7 reported on Tuesday.

The mosque will resume opening on Wednesday; the decision came after Sunni salafists called for mobbing outside the mosque in anticipation of any Shiite presence.

Police have tightened security measures around the mosque; the Day of Ashura is one of the most significant Shia holidays as it commemorates the deaths of Prophet Mohammed’s grandson Hussein.

Shia followers have a tradition of self-flagellating and wounding themselves in squares in a show of mourning.

 

Primary student injured after ceiling fan fell in a classroom

A primary student was injured while her classmates were shrouded by panic after a ceiling fan fell on them in a primary school in Kharga city of Wadi Gadid governorate on Tuesday, Youm7 reported. The girl suffers slight injuries.

In late September, a student was killed when a ceiling fan has fallen down on the students in a primary school in Basyoun city of Gharbia governorate.

 

Egypt’s naval forces sizes boat loaded with 1.4 tons of Hashish in Sallum

Egyptian naval forces have thwarted an illegal attempt of smuggling a total of 1.4 tons of of hashish on board of a fishery boat into the Egyptian territories.

The four Syrian people were on board of the boat that seized off shore of the Mediterranean Sallum city, Youm7 reported on Tuesday. The arrested people have being investigated.

 

Tunisia deports 17 Egyptians who were arrested in illegal migration to Libya

Tunisia has deported back a total of 17 Egyptian people who were arrested before entering into the Libyan territories, Youm7 reported on Tuesday.

The deportees have being investigated to know the reasons behind their illegal migration; Egyptian and Tunisian authorities have banned traveling to Libya due to the security and political turmoil in this oil-rich country.

 

Egypt’s Water Minister meets with FAO representative in Cairo

Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Atti ,met  with General Director of FAO Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa Hussein Gadain on Tuesday, discussing the water projects in which the FAO can participate, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry on Tuesday.
