Army launches airstrikes in N. Sinai, kills 12 terrorists – source

A total of 12 terrorists were killed in security crackdown in North Sinai within the past fews hours, a security source told Youm7.

Military forces launched airstrikes at militant hubs in different areas in South Arish, Central Sinai, South Rafah and Sheikh Zuwayed.

The source said that military operations continue in the troubled area of North Sinai, targeting militants who recently claimed the lives of 12 soldiers in an attack on checkpoint in the Peninsula.

 

MP demands to stop listing religion on official documents

Member of Parliament John Talaat has demanded to limit listing religion identity to birth and death certificates, but to be removed from other official documents, Youm7 reported.

Cairo University has recently decided to remove the religion line from all its documents and certificates; Engineers Syndicate has followed its footsteps and announced halting religion identification in its documents as well.

 

FM to meet with Afreximbank President Tuesday

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry is set to meet with Benedict Oramah, the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank) Tuesday.

Shoukry met with a U.S. congressional delegation Monday to discuss developments of crises in the MENA region, including Syria, Libya, Iraq and Yemen.

 

Parliament to discuss rising rate of road deaths Tuesday

Member of Parliament Abdel Moneim el-Eleimy demanded Minister of Transport Galal el-Saeed to attend Tuesday session, which will discuss rising rate of road deaths.

MP Eleimy also said that official figures on number of deaths due to road accidents will be announced during the session.

 

MPs mark writer’s death anniversary in Tuesday cultural evening

Members of Parliament Khaled Youssef and Yousef el-Qaeed will participate in a cultural evening at the Supreme Council for Culture marking first death anniversary of Writer Gamal el-Ghitani.

Youssef is a film director who was elected to be an MP representing a Qalubiya constituency, while Writer Qaeed is member of the Media and Culture sub-committee at the parliament.
