UNWTO regional director arrives in Cairo for council meeting

The Regional Director of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Amr Abdel Ghaffar arrived at Cairo Airport Sunday to attend the 104th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization in Cairo that will last until Nov.1, 2016.

 

Egypt marks 1st anniversary of Russian crashed jet in Sharm el-Sheikh

Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation organized Sunday a candle vigil in Sharm el-Sheikh city, marking the first anniversary of the victims of the Russian aircraft that crashed in Sinai Oct. 30 last year.

The crash took place few minutes after the jet left Sharm el-Sheikh Airport on Oct. 31, 2015, leaving all the 224 crew members and passengers dead. A committee investigating the cause of the crash has yet not revealed its results; however, western intelligences’ indications refer to a bomb attack was behind the fatal accident.

Sunday vigil will be attended by three Egyptian ministers; aviation, tourism and antiquities, and the Russian ambassador to Cairo, besides a number of foreign media outlets.

A prayer for the victims will be held at Sharm el-Sheikh Cathedral as part of the day events.

 

New law on violence against women addresses enforced marriage, right of inheritance

A new law was drafted to be considered by the parliament, where a punishment of both imprisonment and fine awaits those force females to marriage.

The law on violence against women, was drafted by the National Council for Women, and stipulates at least 6 months jail term and 10,000 fine for enforced marriage and depriving women of their wealth.

 

Parliament to address dollar price hike crisis at black market next week

The economic committee at the parliament is scheuled to hold a meeting next week to discuss dollar prices hike in black markets.
