The Netherlands Embassy organizes the 5th Orange Bike Day

(Press Release) – On Friday 18 November 2016, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Egypt will organize the 5 th annual Orange Bike Day. This year’s event focuses on sustainability and sustainable business, and goes with the slogan: Orange is the new Green.

The Netherlands is known worldwide as a pioneer in the integration of cycling as a low-cost alternative in urban transport, so reducing car traffic and pollution within cities.

By organizing this cycling event, the Embassy continues its efforts to promote the potential of bicycles as a clean, healthy and efficient alternative means of transportation in urban environments.

The Embassy started the Orange Bike Day in Egypt back in 2012 with around 400 participants. Since then it has been organized annually, with participation growing every year so that more than 3,000 cyclists participated in Orange Bike Day 2015.

Together with E7gezly, Dutch companies Farm Frites, Frico, Unilever and Fayrouz are the main sponsors of Orange Bike Day 2016. The event is organized with the support of Egypt’s Global Biking Initiative and Abou El Goukh.


Egypt’s army kills 6 militants, arrests on 4 others in N.Sinai

Six militants were killed after clashes with Egyptian military forces in restive North Sinai over the past 24 hours, Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Thursday.

The military forces combed total of 36 agricultural areas used by the militants to hide their terrorist activities, the statement added. They also arrested on four others.


Minister of Agriculture talks on exported potatoes with Russia Veterinary Surveillance Service

Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Essam Fayed will discuss Egyptian agriculture exports with a delegation from the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia on Thursday, Youm7 reported.

The meeting will tackle the safety measures for the Egyptian potatoes that will be exported to Russia, after Moscow has lifted import ban on the Egyptian potatoes.



EgyptAir mulls to increase price of flight tickets

EgyptAir Co. is considering a decision of increasing the flight tickets, a move has been taken after the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) floated the currency against the U.S. dollar on Thursday, Youm7 reported an official at the company.


Egypt sees mild weather on Friday

Egyptian meteorologists expected that weather would be mild over Egypt as Cairo to see sees 24⁰ C on Friday, Youm7 reported on Thursday.

Since Wednesday, Egypt saw a notable decrease in the temperature accompanied by light rains in the northern parts, said Egyptian Meteorology Authority (EMA) spokesperson Wahid Saudi on Monday.
