Minister of Housing called by parliament for price rise of construction materials

Member of Parliament Mohamed Aly demanded Minister of Housing to be presented in front of the Housing of Representatives to be questioned over “random” rise in prices of construction materials, Youm7 reported Monday.


Committee to finalize reviewing jailed youth’s files for pardon soon 

A committee assigned to review cases of jailed youth to select those eligible for pardon promised by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi last month, will end its job by Nov. 20.


Alexandria to heighten security measures ahead of Egypt-Ghana clash

Alexandria Security Directorate announced holding a conference in the coming few days to discuss beefing security measures ahead of a 2018 World Cup qualified match between Egypt and Ghana on Nov.13.

The match will be held at the Borg el-Arab Stadium in the Mediterranean city.


Cairo, Tehran deny Egyptian oil Minister’s visit to Iran over ‘new deal’

Egypt denied media reports claimed that the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum flied to Iran to discuss the bilateral cooperation in oil field after Saudi Arabia has suspended the oil aid to Cairo, Youm7 reported on Monday.

Egyptian Petroleum Ministry Spokesperson Hamdi Abdel-Aziz said Minister Tarek El Molla filed to the AUE to participate in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2016.

Reuters reported that Traek El Molla “was on his way to Iramn Sunday” to strike a new oil deal after Saudi Arabia suspended its oil cargos to Egypt “until further notice.”

Iranian diplomats denied in remarks to Youm7 that the Egyptian Minister did not pay any visit to Tehran over this topic.


Egypt’s FM meets with President of the Senate of France

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will meet with President of the Senate of France Gérard Larcher on Monday in Cairo-based Foreign Ministry headquarters, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry.

Larcher  and his accompanying delegation arrived in the Cairo International Airport on Sunday evening, paying a visit lasts for several days to discuss the bilateral relations, Youm7 reported Egyptian officials at the airport.

The French Senator will meet with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, Egyptian Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.


Sisi phones Togolese counterpart on bilateral relations

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi phoned Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé on Sunday evening, congratulating him on the Togo’s success in organizing the African Union Extraordinary Summit on Maritime Security and Safety, said Egyptian Spokesperson Alaa Youssef in a statement on Sunday.

Both leaders discussed the necessity of activating the bilateral agreement signed in April when President Gnassingbé visited Egypt.

The Toholese President praised Egypt on organizing the first Egyptian Youth Conference that was held in Sharm el Sheikh, the statement added.


Egypt court upholds sentence of life imprisonment against 3 alleged Muslim brotherhood members

Egypt’s Giza Criminal court upheld life imprisonment sentences against three people, allegedly belong to the banned Muslim brotherhood group, over charges of burning a church in blue-collar district Kerdassa of Giza on Monday, Youm7 reported.

In July, a court has sentenced life imprisonment against the three defendants, who were tried in absentia, and fined 20,000 EGP.

They faced charges of burning Virgin Mary Church in Kerdasa on Aug. 14, 2016, following the ouster of former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi by the military after protesters called for the end of his regime on June 30, 2013.


Egyptian-Jordanian military drills kick off

Egyptian-Jordanian joint military exercises (Aqaba 2016) will kick off on Monday in southern Hashemite Kingdom, said Egyptian Armed Forces Spokesperson Mohamed Samir in a statement.

Egyptian ground and maritime forces arrived in Jordan’s Aqaba maritime port on Monday, he added, noting that the dills will last to Nov. 25.
