Heightened security at Shura Council as constitutional committee convenes

CAIRO: After the failed attempt to assassinate the interior minister, the Shura Council began to intensify security measures around the council’s building, located near the Interior Ministry.

Sources told Youm7 that building security has revised a plan to secure all entrances and exits to the building in addition to increasing security checks on anyone entering the building, and refusing admission to anyone without permission to enter.

The 50-member committee drafting Egypt’s constitution will begin holding sessions Sunday in the council’s building.

The source said that some of the committee members did not come in today to make their IDs out of fear of an explosion in the council.
