CAIRO: The International Film Festival of Marrakech announced Thursday that the president of the 13th jury will be Martin Scorsese.
The director of Taxi Driver and Gangs of New York said he was very happy to preside over the jury of the Marrakech International Film Festival this year.
“I made two films in Morocco, which has allowed me to enjoy the spirit of the Moroccan people and the beauty of its culture. I cannot wait to discover films from around the world presented in this unique festival. ”
Morocco and Scorsese have long history together. He shot his films, The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) and Kundun (1995) in Morocco.
Also, In 2005, Martin Scorsese was rewarded by Mohammed VI for intellectual merit. Two years later he had an opportunity to give lessons in film and interact with young Moroccan filmmakers.
The festival will be held from 29 November to 7 December.
