CAIRO: Over 100 police personnel have died after police forces forcefully dispersed Muslim Brotherhood sit-ins at Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda squares in mid-August, according to a security official. A total of 117 have died and 1,063 were injured.
According to MENA, a senior security source in the Interior Ministry confirmed that the numbers.
The security source said in a statement to MENA that those killed included 28 police officers, 39 policemen, one civilian employee and 49 police recruits. The injured included 333 police officers, 299 policemen, 4 civilian employees and 427 police recruits.
The source said police officers are determined to continue their efforts to confront “terrorism and forces of evil that are trying to tamper with Egypt’s security.”
