CAIRO: Pope Tawadros II has decided to cancel the anniversary ceremony of his appointment to the papal chair scheduled to take place November 18th, according to a source in the church.
The anniversary will be limited to the November 17th mass, during which three new archbishops will be appointed.
The source said that the ceremony’s cancellation was due to the recent attack against the Virgin Church of Al-Warraq in the governorate of Giza. Holding a celebration might spark the anger of some Copts, considering that forty days had not yet passed since the attack, the source added.
