CAIRO: Transport Minister Ibrahim el-Demeiry conferred on Monday with his Lebanese counterpart Ghazi Aridi on means of bolstering mutual cooperation in the land and maritime transportation as well as transit activities.

In statements following the meeting, Demeiry said the Lebanese minister voiced his country’s resolve to sign an agreement with Egypt on the operation of ro-ro vessels from Tripoli harbor to the Egyptian harbors and later to a number of Arab countries’ harbors using the transit system with the aim of achieving regional integration via Egypt’s distinguished position.

Demeiry also said a number of memoranda of understanding, that have previously been signed between the two countries, were reviewed with the aim of activating mutual cooperation and increasing trade via the maritime sector.
