CAIRO: Wafd Party Higher Commission member Yasser Hassan said the party has no intention of creating an electoral alliance with the Salafist Nour Party in the upcoming parliamentary elections, in a Tuesday statement to Youm7.

Hassan said the Wafd Party is in talks with the Egyptian Social Democratic Party (ESDP) to coordinate an electoral alliance.

Hassan said while his party values the Nour Party’s patriotic stance, their commitment to the roadmap and their campaign to vote “yes” in the upcoming constitutional referendum, their ideological differences would be obstacles in an alliance.

Hassan added that the party will not align with any Islamic or leftist parties due to different ideologies, noting that the refusal is not based on the religious background of the Nour Party.
