The Telegraph’s Richard Spencer commented on Youm7’s exclusive audio recordings of conversations with Hosni Mubarak on Sunday, questioning whether Mubarak was honest when he discussed his intention to hand over power prior to the revolution.

Spencer said, “If he, Mubarak, genuinely intended to hand over power all along, it makes it all the harder to understand why he did not compromise immediately after protests broke out. He could then have presided over a more orderly transition of power.”

In a series of conversations obtained by Youm7, Mubarak gives his views on Egypt’s current political crisis, dating its start not from the street uprisings in February 2011 but to American opposition that his son, Gamal to run for presidency.
