Activist, member of April 6 Youth
Born February 1, 1985
Asmaa Mahfouz was one of the founding members of the April 6 Youth Movement, which sparked nation-wide demonstrations on April 6, 2008. Since then, Mahfouz has been actively involved in the group and in opposing the regime of former President Hosni Mubarak.
Mahfouz graduated from Cairo University with a BA in Business Administration and currently works for a computer company.
Mahfouz is one of the Egyptian “youth” credited with helping to spark the mass demonstration on January 25, 2011 which evolved into a popular revolution. Mahfouz appealed to her fellow Egyptians to go to the streets through a video blog posted on YouTube a week before the revolution began.
