CAIRO: The first day of the referendum on the new constitution witnessed a high turnout from dwarfs, as this is the first constitution to recognize them in a special article, according to the Dwarfs Association.

Head of the Dwarfs Association in Alexandria Essam Shehata told Youm7 that dwarfs showed a high level of participation on the first day of the referendum, and will take part in the second day too.

This is the first time that the state recognizes the dwarfs in a constitution, which achieves the principle of justice and equality, he explained.

Shehata also noted that the new constitution achieves the goals of the revolution, which are freedom, social justice, and human dignity, stating that article 81 of the constitution ensures the rights of both disabled people and dwarfs.
