Traffic aside, first day of school goes smoothly in Cairo

CAIRO: Today the main streets of Cairo were packed because of the number of vehicles on the first day of school.

Regardless of the traffic jam, the students didn’t come across any major disruptions on their way to school and began their classes normally.

The Ministry of Education decided to postpone the start of lessons in some villages in Sinai, such as Nahia and Kerdasah, until next week due to  recent confrontations between armed militants and security forces.

Helwan, Al-Azhar and Port Said universities will delay the start of lectures for a week, whilst Cairo and Ain Shams universities started on time.

The Muslim Brotherhood called for a demonstration in some metro stations in Cairo today, in order to disrupt its regular service, but the number of the attendees was really low and, therefore, not effective.
