CAIRO: An American navy helicopter crashed into the Red Sea on Sunday after departing from a missile destroyer, U.S. Navy officials said.
The officials clarified that the crash was not caused by any hostile action.
According to the Fifth Fleet of the U.S. Navy, the crew members are still missing and the air- sea search and rescue operation is underway.
The MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter, the nautical version of the renowned Blackhawk helicopter, took off from the deck of the missile destroyer William Lawrence, one of four major vessels deployed with the USS Nimitz, an aircraft carrier that holds nearly 90 airplanes and helicopters.
