Criminal Court acquits 62 on charges of attacking Azbakiya police station

CAIRO: Cairo Criminal Court, convening on Sunday under Counselor Mohammad Fathy, acquitted 62 supporters of deposed president Mohammad Morsi on charges of committing acts of violence and sabotaging Azbakiya police station in Ramsis Square in mid July.

The Prosecution leveled 10 charges against the defendants, including premeditated murder, using Molotov cocktails to set ablaze police facilities, attacking policemen with firearms, sabotaging public properties and blocking traffic.

The bloody clashes left 27 policemen and 40 civilians injured in addition to the damage inflicted on some shops in the surroundings of Ramsis Square.
