Damanhour Opera House commemorates Baligh Hamdi

CAIRO: The Damanhour Opera house will host the Alexandria Opera Ensemble for Music and Arab Singing on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m., to start its new season of concerts in memory of famed composer Baligh Hamdi, reported Youm7.

Hamdi is a renowned composer who wrote songs for Egyptian and Arabic singers such as Om Kalthoum, Shadia, Mohamed Roshdi, and Abd al-Halim Hafez, the Lebanese singers Sabah and Wadih el-Safi, the Saudi Talal Madah, the Tunisian Latifa, the Algerian Warda and the Syrian Mayada al-Hinawy.

The concert, led by maestro Abd al-Hameed Abd al-Gafaar, will include some of Hamdi’s fantastic tunes.
