CAIRO: Security forces arrested on Monday Mohamed Mekkawy, a leader in the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party,  in Al Warraq district, south-west of Cairo.

A warrant was issued by Al Warraq prosecution to arrest Mekkawy on charges of inciting other fellow protestors of attacking Al Warraq police station.

Mekkawy was charged following the dispersal of Muslim Brotherhood supporters’ sit-ins in Rabaa and al-Nahda on Aug. 14 by military forces. These sit-ins, which demanded the return of ousted President Mohamed Morsi, had continued for 40 consecutive days.
