CAIRO: A profit margin for vendors of fruits and vegetables will soon be determined in order to combat the recent price increase, according to Minister of Supply Mohamed Abu Shady.

Abu Shady added that, in coordination with the Minister of Agriculture Ayman Abu Hadid, fruits and vegetables will be offered at a lower price through 15 mobile carts throughout the country’s public squares starting from Tuesday. Additionally, the Ministry of Supply is offering the products at governmental complexes with lower prices than the private market prices.

According to Abu Shady, the monitoring department at the ministry is continuing its campaign over the markets, in coordination with the General Directorate of Supply Investigation, to take legal action against vendors who hike up the prices.
