CAIRO: Joint security forces continue operations in Kerdasa for the sixth day, in search of criminals involved in the attacks on Sept. 19, where the local police station was raided and torched and 11 officers and security personnel, including the station’s commissioner Major General Mohammed Gabr and his deputy Colonel Amer Abdel-Maksoud, were killed.
Since the raid began, almost 145 people have been arrested, several security officers have been injured, and General Nabil Farag has been killed, according to al-Badil newspaper
The city’s entrances have witnessed intensified security measurements by the armed forces since the attack. Military checkpoints enclose the village, and both those entering and exiting are required to present identification. Men are subjected to full inspections, and vehicles searched.
