Taekwondo African Championship kicks off in Luxor 15-17 Feb.

LUXOR, Egypt: 34 countries compete in the 1st Luxor Open Senior Taekwondo Championship that kicks off in Luxor Feb. 15-17, undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports in Luxor governorate Medhat el-Sayed said on Friday.

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Minister of Sports Taher Abu Zeid and Luxor Governor General Tarek Saad el Din, said Sayed.

Besides the Egyptian national team, taekwondo teams from Ukraine, Turkey, Belgium and Spain are amongst other participants in the tournament. Over 400 female and male athletes will participate in the championship, divided into several weight categories.
