NEW YORK: Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Fahmy met his Eritrean counterpart Osman Saleh Mohamed late Wednesday in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Atti.
The meeting focused on ways of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries in order to achieve their common interests, according to Atti.
The spokesman said that the meeting also covered the political situation on the African continent in general, especially the one in Somalia.
The two ministers further discussed the decision of The Peace and Security Council of the African Union to suspend Egypt from the organization, he said, adding that the two ministers agreed on intensifying their political consultation.
Moreover, the meeting tackled the latest developments of the Syrian crisis, arrangements of holding a “Geneva 2″ conference on Syria and ways to reach a political solution to this crisis, said the spokesman.
