CAIRO: The American University in Cairo (AUC) will open its first techno-industrial company, D-Chemistry, which will specialize in identifying ways to diagnose the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV.)
A press conference will be held next Monday, Sept. 29, to mark the launch of the company.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO,) HCV is a virus that threatens the lives of 150 million worldwide. More than 350,000 people die every year from hepatitis C-related liver diseases. Approximately 20 percent of the Egyptian population is HCV positive.
The AUC conference will also discuss the role of high education establishments in developing scientific research.
Several AUC professors will deliver speeches in the conference, headed by Dr. Lisa Anderson, president of AUC.
