North Sinai: Anonymous gunmen shot dead an Egyptian policeman on Friday in El-Arish town in North Sinai peninsula, close to borders with the Palestinian Gaza Strip, state television reported.
The incident occurred in al-Zaheer area, landmine was planted by anonymous terrorists, exploded after the security vehicle crossed the area, followed by heavy gunfire shooting causing the death of civilian Hussein Hassan Khalf and another injured by the random gunfire.
The policeman was shot in the head, security sources said.
Moreover, Two explosive devices detonated near police check points on the outskirts of Cairo wounded two policemen, state news agency MENA reported.
Attacks on the army and police have intensified since the overthrew of Egypt’s first Islamist president, Mohamed Mursi, on July 3 after army backed-mass protests against his rule.
Since then, more than 100 members of the security forces have been killed in Sinai.
