CAIRO: Hisham Genena, head of central auditing agency, revealed on Friday that financial irregularities against Minister of Justice Adel Abdel Hamid reached 1.14 million EGP (U.S. $165 million) as cash bonuses and 400,000 EGP (U.S. $57,000)for the period of his position as Minister of Justice from Dec. 2011 to July 2012.

Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawy reacted to Genena’s statement by saying that he did not receive any reports from the central auditing agency about the minister of justice. Beblawy stressed that when appointing ministers, he took all regulatory agencies’ reports into consideration.

Genena criticized the prime minister’s statement, assuring that the central auditing agency report has been sent to the general prosecution, and that some of the annual reports were also sent to ministries and the presidency and some reports directly to the attorney general.
