CAIRO: A state-run primary school in Kerdasa village was named after General Nabil Farag, the Giza Police Chief killed during a security raid last week, Egyptian authorities in Giza governorate said Sunday.

Assistant Interior Minister Farag was shot dead shortly after security forces and armed militants exchanged gunfire.

In an attempt to clear the village from militants, who started violent actions against police and residents in the aftermath of former President Mohamed Morsi’s ousting, security forces raided suspects’ hideouts, imposed a curfew and detained dozens in Kerdasa.

The head of Kerdasa’s local council, Khairy Morsi, said to Youm7 that other proposals were discussed, including naming the street where Farag was killed after him.
