CAIRO: Tariq al-Molla, executive director of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), announced in a press release Thursday that the petroleum sector is studying new ways to increase the production of petroleum and to reap benefits of naphtha, a raw material of gasoline.

Molla said that the petroleum sector is studying various methods to evaluate its economical and technical benefits. He said they gave special attention to the strategic dimension, as these studies will provide all of Egypt with fuel, cancelling the need for importation.

He added that banks have also contributed to the financing of projects being conducted by Asyut and Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemicals Companies (ANRPC), which developed their capabilities to convert Naphtha into high gasoline.
