CAIRO: The electricity crisis will escalate during March as result of lack of fuel, which is necessary to operate power plants and cope with the increase of the load on the network that coincides with the increase of temperatures, sources told Youm7 Friday.

Petroleum and Electricity sector officials are scheduled to meet next Wednesday at the Ministry of Petroleum to discuss fuel provision during the summer season.

According to the sources, officials from the ministry said that they would only be able to provide 25 percent of the amount of fuel needed to operate all oil-fired power plants. Besides, they can only provide 75 percent of the gas needed to operate all gas fueled power plants.
