CAIRO: Tagammu Party secretary-general announced that the party is holding a meeting on March 1 to discuss the party’s plans regarding the next parliamentary elections and to prepare its list of candidates, depending on the candidacy-system that is to be adopted.

Secretary-General Magdy Sharabeya stated that the presidential candidate and head of the Popular Current Hamdeen Sabbahi has not been in contact with them but that the Tagammu Party invites him to present his electoral program.

Previously, a leading member at the party, Nabil Zaky had explained that the party was in disagreement with Sabbahi, as some Popular Current members announced they intend to cooperate with the Muslim Brotherhood during parliamentary elections.

On the other hand, the party announced Feb. 20 its support for Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, the current Minister of Defense, for presidential elections
