BAGHDAD: The Iraqi deputy electricity minister survived an assassination attempt after an explosive device that targeted his motorcade detonated in northern Baghdad, killing one of his guards and damaging vehicles in his convoy, a police source said Sunday.
A security force cordoned off the area and opened an investigation into the incident, while an ambulance moved the body to the forensic medicine department, the source added.
In a separate incident, unidentified gunmen broke into an electronics shop in southeastern Baghdad and killed its owner, a police source said.
