Tamer Hosny

 Arabic: تامر حسني

Born: Aug. 16, 1977

Pop singer

Tamer Hosny is an Egyptian singer, actor, composer, and songwriter. He is considered one of the most popular “pop” singers in Egypt and the wider Middle East, and was called the “Star of the Generation.”

During Egypt’s January 25 Revolution, Hosny was booed out of Tahrir Square for his support of the ruling regime, saying then-President Hosni Mubarak was like a ‘father.’ A video of Hosny in tears after being forced to leave the square was widely distributed on the internet.

Despite this, his music continues to be popular.
