CAIRO: Popular Current founder and possible presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahi left the headquarters of the Egyptian Communist Party on Sunday evening after finishing the closed meeting with leaders of the party.
Sabbahi told Youm7 after leaving the building that he asked the communist party to participate in drafting his presidential electoral program. He added that he seeks national stability and that he wants to achieve social justice.
Spokesperson of the Egyptian Communist Party, Essam Shabaan, said that the meeting discussed Sabbahi’s stance on the Muslim Brotherhood. According the Sabbahi, the Egyptian people are the only ones entitled to make a decision whether or not to reconcile with the Brotherhood.
Shabaan further said that economic policies that benefit the poor are needed to achieve social justice and solve the issues of the poor.
