KAFR EL-SHIEKH: All necessary documents that prove three detained fishing boats in Yemen did not violate the law by fishing in Yemeni waters were submitted to the Yemeni authorities, but 36 fishermen remain detained, said Ahmed Nassar, head of the Fishermen’s Syndicate.

The 36 Egyptian fishermen were arrested last Thursday. A GPS device belonging to the Yemeni military forces also proved that the boats did not fish in Yemeni waters, Nassar said.

He said lawyer Nadida al-Dakak told him that the acting prosecutor of the public funds prosecution in Hudaibiya is acting uncompromisingly and does not want to release the boats and the fishermen detained in one of the naval bases in Yemen.

Nassar demanded that Egyptian authorities intervene to get the fishermen released.
