CAIRO: There was no evidence of systematic torture taking place in prisons that the National Council for Human Rights visited, Salah Sallam, a member of the council said on CBC TV channel Sunday.

Salah said prisoner complaints largely revolved around lack of sports time, sun exposure, access to newspapers and television.

He also said that the council had prepared a plan to visit the majority of Egypt’s prisons such Abu Zaabal and Tora to investigate rumors of torture and listen to prisoner complaints.
