CAIRO: High school exams are scheduled to be held on June 7 and there is no intention to postpone them, Minister of Education Mahmoud Abou el-Nasr said Sunday, adding that the Interior Ministry would secure the exams.
During an interview with on Mehwar TV channel, Nasr said that there was coordination between the ministry and security directorates across governorates to secure the second semester exams.
Nasr added that private lessons might be reduced; but will not end, even if student and school needs are met, “since the state requires approximately 10,000 additional schools to reduce the density of students in classrooms.”
Nasr claimed that 4.2 million first to third grade students would be taught how to read and write during the next six months, adding that this represents “an achievement when considering that some students managed to reach high school without knowing how to write their own names.”
