CAIRO: An Aswan-bound train from Cairo derailed Monday between the Sohag and Belsfoura stations, due to the theft of railroad spikes, according to sources at the Railway Authority.

No injuries have been reported. The authority is currently lifting the derailed carriages to resume train movements, sources added.

The Sohag railway authority in coordination with security authorities have provided an alternate train to allow passengers to resume their journey to Aswan.

Eyewitnesses told Youm7 that at 6:30 Monday morning they saw the train shaking and grind to a stop.
