CAIRO: Ambassador of the European Union in Cairo, James Moran, said Monday that the EU wishes the next Egyptian elections to be fair and clear. He added that the European Union is willing to continue aid for Egypt.
Regarding Field Marshal Abdel Fatah al-Sisi being a candidate in the next presidential elections, Moran said that Egyptians are the only ones that are entitled to choose their next president and no other party is entitled to interfere. He added that the European Union will support the next elected Egyptian president.
The ambassador said that European aids are not frozen, in addition to available funding for NGOs in Egypt.
Moran visited the Dostour Party to congratulate Hala Shukrallah with her election as party leader and to see how the party’s electoral program would look like. He considered having a woman as leader of a political party in Egypt a good sign.
