GAZA CITY: The Israeli authorities Monday set free a Palestinian prisoner who completed his 14-year term.

Abdallah Enshasi, from Gaza, was released today, said spokesman for the Waed Association for Prisoners said, noting that Enshasi was arrested on March 3, 2000.

He was sentenced to prison on charges of joining the Saraya al-Quds Brigades and attempting to stab an Israel soldier at Beit Hanoun crossing. Enshashi was also found guilty of planting an explosive charge in a gas station in the occupied lands.

About 5,000 Palestinians are held in Israeli jails, 420 of whom are from Gaza.
