CAIRO: The newly appointed Minister of Manpower Nahed Hasan Ashry demanded the labor union leaders to submit workers problems to be discussed with the investment minister, according to a press release of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation on Monday.
Ashry said during a meeting with the heads of labor unions that she will bring their problems under attention of the Ministry of Investment in order to achieve the demands. She stressed the importance of discussing the draft law of the trade unions along with the amendments to the labor law with the upcoming parliament.
The leaders of the federation demanded Ashry to apply the minimum wage on all workers, return the dismissed workers and implement the verdicts that stated the return of certain companies to the public sector after they were privatized.
The trade union’s leaders declared their rejection of the presence of independent syndicates, commenting that they are harmful to the national security.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Ashry will visit Tuesday the Mahalla and Kafr el-Dawar companies to discuss the technical and financial problems of both companies after ongoing strikes during the last period by the workers, demanding wage rise and allowances.
