CAIRO: Ahly Ultras are in solidarity with the Zamalek fans that were confronted and tear gassed by police, preventing them from attending CAF Champions League 1/16th round first leg match against Kabuscorp in Cairo Stadium on Saturday.
Due to the recent clashes during the CAF super cup final match in Cairo Stadium a few days before Zamalek’s match, the Ministry of Interior sent a letter to the Egyptian Football Association that no spectators are allowed in local, African, or international matches in Cairo for security reasons.
“Freedom for Zamalek fans, freedom for every fan charged with supporting his own team, salvation from an oppressive and stupid regime,” the Ahly Ultras statement read. “The police forces fabricated clashes during the Ahly match and dispersed the peaceful gathering of Zamalek fans. This indicates its tendency to get rid of the Ultras due to their clashes with the police during the January 25 Revolution in 2011,” said the statement.
