CAIRO: Mobile phone theft harms every user, head of National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority Hesham al-Alaily said Monday.

The authority addressed the available mobile companies in Egypt to put an end to phone theft after the increase of numbers of phones stolen from citizens and used them in other crimes to remain anonymous, Alaily said during a phone interview with ‘10 pm’ TV show on Dream2 channel.

He called on the data division in the mobile companies to follow up on every user for accurate information according to the law of telecommunications and the obtained license.

Alaily said the authority performed clear procedures for mobile companies to give them some time to review their database by registering the data of their customers.

He said Feb. 27 was the last chance for customers to register their data or their mobile SIM card will be stopped. There will be decisive procedures for this issue.
