CAIRO: The next parliamentary elections are considered a big challenge for women to win seats in the parliament, head of Dostor Party Hala Shukrallah said Tuesday.
During the opening of training courses for women to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections, she said the revolutionary moments are when the society accepts what is new.
“Women undergo battles for women rights to bring justice to all those who are oppressed, aiming to create the wanted change in society,” Shukrallah said and indicated the importance of conducting the elections based on a list system to achieve justice.
Shukrallah won the party presidency on Feb. 21, replacing former Dostor president Mohamed ElBaradei, which made her the first Coptic woman to lead a political party in Egypt.
