In a Tuesday press statement, Nabawy said Sisi’s comments meet the demands of the Egyptian people.
Nabawy said Sisi’s statement shows that he will declare his candidacy in the presidential elections after the presidential elections law is issued, which would give the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces time to choose a new defense minister, according to the constitution.
Tamarod is awaiting Sisi’s announcement regarding his candidacy so that the movement can begin their campaign for his election, said Nabawy, adding that as soon as Sisi makes his decision they will start gathering signatures to be delivered to the Supreme Electoral Committee.
Sisi said on Tuesday during his speech to students graduating from the Egyptian Military Academy that he cannot turn his back on the Egyptian people when he finds that the majority are asking him to run for president.
