Central Bank to issue 3 billion EGP long-term bonds

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, will issue long-term treasury bonds worth 3 billion EGP on Monday.

The bonds will be offered in two installments, one at a value of 1.5 billion EGP with a three-year term, while the other at a value of 1.5 EGP billion with a seven-year term.

Egypt’s budget deficit is expected to reach 200 billion EGP in the current fiscal year. The deficit is being funded by the Central Bank’s tender of treasury bills and bonds, government debt, as well as aid from countries in the Arab World and international loans.
