CAIRO: Dostor Party is facing a severe financial crisis, especially in paying the rent of its headquarters at the republic level, and most of its headquarters was closed down while the rest is threatened, informed sources told Youm7.
Party members are the ones who were looking for headquarters and then pay rent, the sources said, that the membership problem and the delay of extracting the party cards. The events that took place inside the party lately and the political scene ambiguity made the party lose a large number of its members, which led to the deficiency of the party’s finance resources.
Party secretary-general Yaqout al-Senousy told Youm7 that Dostor Party’s new leadership is aware of the financial crisis in the party.
The party has a complete plan to confront this crisis by collecting the members’ subscriptions, attracting new members, launching a fundraising campaign, establishing a private newspaper for the party, Senousy said. There are some positive steps already while the party founding members donated the headquarters.
Dostor Party will launch a new campaign called ‘As an Egyptian Citizen,’ which will be its second launch to renew the confidence of its members and citizens, Party founding member Wael Magdy told Youm7.
The campaign aims to raise the political awareness of Egyptian citizens and to make them key partners in activating the role of popular control on executive bodies, he added.
