Worker arrested over attempted smuggle of 14 rare hawks in Shalateen

RED SEA, Egypt: A worker was arrested Wednesday over the attempted smuggling of 14 rare hawks in Shalateen city, a researcher at the protected areas of the Red Sea Ahmed Ghanam told Youm7.

Ghanam said the border troops of Southern military region south of the Red Sea managed to arrest a worker after his possession of 14 rare hawks, which are illegal to hunt. They were going to be smuggled in a car at a mountain valley in Shalateen city south of the Red Sea.

The public prosecution was notified with the incident. They decided to form a committee of environmental protected areas researchers to return the hawks back to their place in the mountain valleys near Shalateen city.
